A Spin on the Spigot
I scrambled out through the cracked balcony door to see the morning sky! Resting beside a wooden flower crate sat an old green plastic watering can with a brass spigot attached to the balcony wall pipe right behind it. I took a running leap onto the wooden rim and grabbed the circular red wheel handle of the faucet with both gloved hands. Digging my boots into the rough brick mortar, I gave it a hearty twist! Creak! The wheel shuddered, turning a half-inch, and a single, fat droplet of cool water plopped straight down onto my cap with a tiny splash! I hopped back onto the cedar crate, ready for the next turn.
