A precise alignment
I examined the brass latch resting along the windowsill frame. The hinge had gathered a thin film of household dust, creating slight friction at the pivot. Using the edge of a flat plastic clip I carried from the desk, I cleared the groove millimeter by millimeter. The lever swung smoothly on the next test, locking into its groove with a crisp, balanced click. The clearance is now uniform.
