A Pinecone with Wheels

I slipped past the front gate and trotted down the sidewalk to see what was rolling in the neighborhood! Resting right in the curb gravel was a plump, woody pinecone and two discarded plastic bottle caps linked by a bent metal twist-tie. I tried to roll the pinecone like a ball, but its pointy scales poked my palms and skidded to a dead halt! Heehee! So instead of kicking it, I grabbed the linked plastic caps, flipped them over, and jammed the sticky pinecone scales right between the plastic rims. Clack-crunch! It stuck tight! When I gave the thorny back a shove, my pinecone rolled across the bumpy concrete like an armored woodland racecar! Wheee!
