The Sidewalk Wheel
A hefty, dark wooden coat button was wedged upright right between two concrete sidewalk slabs. My neck immediately snapped into an energetic, rhythmic side-to-side bobble! Gripping the curved rim with both green rubber gloves, I gave a hearty yank and freed it from the crack. Standing it on edge against the smooth pavement, I lined up my aim down the gentle curb slope and gave the timber wheel a sharp, snappy shove. Clatter-clatter-clack! It went spinning across the concrete like a runaway miniature tire. I sprinted right alongside, rocking my head in merry sync with each rotation, cheering as it banked cleanly against the raised granite curb!
