The Turquoise Line ep 81
Squeezing past the front gate onto the sunny sidewalk, I spotted a chunky cylinder of bright turquoise chalk resting near a curb crack. I halted three hops away, tilting my head sideways to see if the powdery blue log would roll. It lay perfectly still. Marching forward with steady resolve, I planted my beak against the rounded edge and shoved with my chest. It resisted, then skated forward with a raspy screech—leaving a brilliant turquoise streak across the gray asphalt! I hopped back in surprise, murmuring softly. Determined, I leaned in and shoved again, carving a thick zigzag line right beside my knotted rope feet.
