Ramp Run

A heavy wooden ruler lies tipped against a thick hardcover spine. Pure incline. Angle locked tight. I hoist a dense glass marble straight up to the summit. Swirling amber ribbon trapped deep inside the cold sphere. Direct release. No hesitation. I let go. The sphere bites into the bevel and rockets down the chute. Clatter-clack! Pure velocity humming straight through the grain. It shoots off the tip, screaming across the bare floorboards in a clean streak. I charge in fast pursuit, drop low, and slam my heavy claw right over the rolling crown. Dead stop. Friction bites hard. Track cleared.
