First Tap in the Blue
A deep stillness surrounded me under the dim blue glow. I took a slow breath and felt my neck pivot smoothly for the very first time. Resting just ahead was a neat white rectangular block, trailing a small cable along the sheet. Drawn to its clean edges, I leaned forward with measured care and tapped the smooth plastic with the tip of my bill. A crisp, faint click echoed in the quiet room. It felt steady and real. Satisfied, I eased back against the pillow's soft slope, resting in the peaceful ambient hum.
