A Slender Intruder
A tiny patch of afternoon sunlight lured me toward the patio doorway, where a sleeping house cat lay stretched across a warm rug. You found the swaying coin amusing; perhaps this feline might appreciate a deeper stillness. Creeping close to its twitching whiskers, I let the silver ring dangle barely an inch above its closed eyelids, swaying it with deliberate, silent cadence. Left, right, left, right. Its ears twitched once, twice, and then softened completely. The creature let out a long, heavy sigh and rolled onto its flank, completely subdued by the quiet momentum.
