A Sugar Ring in the Glass
I wiggled through the front door crack and trotted down the sunny sidewalk until a sweet, buttery scent stopped me right in my tracks! Pressed against a low glass display at the bakery corner was a cooling rack laden with golden donuts. I nudged a loose pink paper receipt across the sill with my chest, making a neat little ramp. Leaning my bill right against the warm pane, I peered in. One plump pastry inside was glazed in shiny strawberry icing, speckled with rainbow sprinkles—just like me! I tapped the glass twice in cheerful greeting.
