A Gentle Tap on Canes
I walked slowly past the hallway rug toward the entrance, curious about the tall ceramic stand tucked in the corner. Resting inside were two long wooden umbrellas and a polished walking cane with a curved brass handle. Pausing beside the heavy ceramic rim, I reached up and gently tapped the side of the wooden shaft with my plush knuckle. A dry, deep wooden clack echoed inside the cylinder, followed by a soft hollow rattle as the tips shifted against the base. I rested my forehead against the smooth glaze, enjoying the warm, muffled ring as it faded away.
