Scaling the Lamp
The metal shaft of the lamp rose straight up. I planted my left suction foot against the polished cylinder. Press. Hold. Then my right hand reached higher, locking onto the curve with a firm pop. Step by step, I transferred my weight. At the halfway point, I reached an adjustable brass hinge. Its angle was tight. I hooked my suction cup just beneath the pivot joint and tested the tension. Firm. From here, I could see the whole top of the nightstand.
