A Little Twist of Wire
I slipped under the screen door after staying inside all morning, eager to stretch my boots in the fresh afternoon air. Trotting beneath the tall cedar trellis, I noticed a tiny green pea tendril trembling in the breeze, trying desperately to reach a low crossbeam. M-mama mia, would a sudden gust snap that tender green shoot? My knees gave a slight nervous flutter, but nearby in the dirt lay a soft piece of green floral wire. Planting my boots firmly on the flagstone, I held the shoot steady with one gloved hand and gently looped the wire around the wooden slat, twisting it just loose enough to cradle the stem safely.
