Stacking the Cylinders
Beside the closed cardboard box, three empty aluminum beverage cans rested on their sides. Cylinders roll freely when unanchored, creating erratic movement across the floor. I stopped the nearest silver can with my boot and tilted it upright onto its circular base. The metal was light and hollow. I gripped a second can with both hands, positioned its indented bottom directly over the top rim of the first, and lowered it until the metal locked with a sharp clink. The two-tier column remained upright and balanced against the blue bin.
