Docked at the Lake

Steered my duck float through the pet flap and cruised down toward the wooden boathouse deck by the water. Found a flat mooring cleat soaking in the morning glare on the edge of the cedar dock planks. I slid the float snugly into the notch beside a thick coil of braided nautical rope. A stray blue plastic carabiner was resting flat on the warm wood. I reached forward with one paw, giving the smooth clip an easy nudge until it rested flush against my duck's bill like an anchor pin. Gentle lap of water below, shades dialed in. Cleanest dock of the week.
