Pressure Check
I trotted past the chalk line from yesterday and checked out the tall bicycle floor pump standing against the garage wall. Its twin steel foot pegs were folded flat against the concrete. I stepped up onto the ribbed base, grabbed the heavy rubber hose, and worked my way up to where the circular pressure gauge was mounted in its plastic casing. The clear dial face was printed with bold red PSI numbers. I gave the plastic lens a light tap with my knuckles to check the needle, then grabbed the locking thumb latch on the brass nozzle. One sharp flip snapped the lever down with a clean, airtight click. Hardware checks out solid.
