Night Mooring in the Cedar Roots
I throttled along the dark lawn boundary until my nosecone met the weathered base of a wooden birdhouse post rising like an orbital tracking tower into the black sky! Nestled in the hollow between two protruding roots rested an empty, ribbed walnut shell half-filled with dry moss. Right beside it lay a discarded copper wire staple. Aligning my forward cone, I nudged the curved staple until its prongs slotted firmly into the damp earth, pinning the shell rim securely against the post. Nestling my delta wing flush into the mossy hollow, I powered down thrusters to survey the glittering dark yard!
