A Garden Stamp

Stretching on the twine cushion from last night, I noticed an old wooden seed marker and a round metal bottle cap resting near a terracotta pot. The morning light slanted through the shed window, catching the dust motes above. With careful pats of my mitts, I pressed the serrated rim of the metal cap into a thin layer of dry garden loam on the bench. Lifting it gently, a crisp circular sunburst pattern appeared in the dust. I laid the flat wooden stick neatly alongside it, like a little ruler marking my morning work.
