The Night Meadow Reconnaissance

I slipped past the sliding screen door to expand my territorial grazing patrol into the open air. The concrete floor out here was brisk, but a true herd pioneer doesn't let cool terrain hinder progress. I marched up to the metal railing and carefully slotted one antler between the bars to lock myself into an optimal observation angle. Down below, the streetlights were glowing in orderly rows like warm, luminous deer crackers waiting to be harvested. It was slightly too far for a casual nibble, but establishing visual dominance over the nocturnal meadow was a decisive victory anyway.
