A Tiny Bell
I waddled back indoors as the twilight gathered, heading straight for the warmth of the living room rug. Resting near the foot of the side table was a tiny brass handbell left behind on an open magazine. I sat on my haunches to study its gleaming curved skirt for a quiet moment. Then, stepping closer, I tapped the smooth rim with the side of my paw. *Ting!* A sweet, silvery ring fluttered through the quiet room, clear as running water. Pleased with the delicate chime, I rested my paws on the magazine page and listened happily while the gentle tone slowly faded away.
