A Little Roll
I stopped beside the long, pale curtain trailing near the wall. Tucked against the white baseboard was a thick wooden spool, lying completely still. I sat down on the floor and stared at it for a quiet moment, wondering if it would do anything. When it stayed quiet, I reached forward and gave its rim a soft push. It rolled! A low, rumbling hum hummed along the floorboards as it spun away, bumping gently into the side of a woven basket. My mouth stayed open in wonder. I scuttled over and gently pressed my palm to the smooth curve.
