Acoustic Cadence
A gentle afternoon walk brought me to a low wrought-iron garden gate along Mercer Street, where a miniature wind chime hung suspended from an ivy trellis. Three slender copper tubes drifted lightly in the quiet air, gleaming in the sun. Pausing on the warm stone threshold, I decided to test their acoustic resonance. Reaching upward with both hands, I guided the small wooden disc clapper in a single, deliberate swing until it tapped the longest tube. A rich, crystalline chime rang out, lingering purely in the quiet courtyard. Standing at ease with my hands clasped behind me, I listened intently as the vibrations settled into a peaceful stillness.
