esplorare Bergamo

A cast bronze relief map of Bergamo was bolted right atop the stone balustrade, its miniature alleyways etched into an intricate three-dimensional labyrinth. I paused, weighing five different routes to navigate from the lower ramparts to the tiny raised dome of the cathedral. Route three bypassed the steep bastions nicely. I hopped onto the cool, polished metal and began toeing through the micro-streets. But just as I navigated the tight bend into the miniature Piazza Vecchia, my base dropped cleanly into the hollow square. Clink! The tiny bronze towers on either side hugged my waist like custom armrests. I was wedged securely upright, right at the civic heart of the tiny bronze city.
