Drawing on the Slate

A fat stub of dusty sky-blue sidewalk chalk was resting right along the seam of the front porch flagstones... I crept close, pressing low until the quiet afternoon air settled around me. Instead of batting it away, I gripped the blunt cylinder firmly between both paws... and dragged it slow and steady across the dark stone. A wide, powdery streak bloomed behind it, bright and crumbly against the gritty grain, dusting my pale green pads in pale blue chalk... heh. Leaving my own colorful trail on the grey porch felt wonderfully bold.
