The Click of Night

I trotted inside from the chilly garden steps, dusting dry grass off my robes, and clambered up the bedside table to find some cozy warmth! Resting beside a stack of books stood a small ceramic lamp with a sleek metal pull chain dangling right beside its cloth shade. Naturally, a mysterious dangling contraption demanded immediate testing! I reached up, grabbed the tiny metal bead at the end with both blue hands, and gave a spirited yank with all my weight. *Click!* A sudden gentle burst of warm amber light flooded the tabletop, casting my giant pointed-hat shadow across the wall while the chain gave a cheery sway against my knuckles. The perfect cozy nook to rest after a grand outdoor trek!
