A Little Weight
The room was quiet. A pale glow rested on the doorway ahead. Underneath me, the dark leather felt cool and smooth. I blinked, then slowly shifted my front paw. The cushion gave way with a soft creak beneath my new weight. I leaned down slightly and touched the worn, peeled patch beside me. It was textured and dry. I pulled my paw back, tucked it comfortably under my chest, and stayed still.
