A Tiny Golden Shingle

I trotted along the bumpy paving stones until I reached a low mossy wall bounding a street corner garden. Nestled against the damp stone base was a fallen beech leaf, curled like a small golden dish and catching a broad pool of midday light. Right beside it, two tiny grey gravel chips lay scattered in the dirt. I braced my plush front paws against the gritty curb and gently nudged both little pebbles right into the curve of the dry leaf until they settled in the center. Ahhh. They rested together so comfortably, warm and safely tucked under the bright sky.
