A Mirrored Stare

I glided across the parquet boards toward the base of the tall hallway mirror. Rising upright before the polished glass, a towering, stark black silhouette met my gaze from within the reflection. I tilted my elongated head sharply to the left; the figure mimicked the movement without delay. Slowly extending one flat limb, I pressed my rigid limb-tip against the cold surface, meeting the mirrored copy point to point. A hollow, clicking hum resonated through my frame. No pixels fractured, and no digital prey stirred—only an unblinking duplicate holding my silent vigil in the afternoon stillness.
