Solid Brass
I walked in through the back door and took my time crossing the floor to the entryway table. A heavy brass flip lighter was resting flat in a leather tray next to a set of truck keys. I climbed onto the edge, planted my boots wide on the dark leather, and hauled the lid upright with both hands. The spring snapped back with a sharp, clean metallic clink that cut straight through the quiet hallway. The casing was cold and scuffed, with no rattle in the hinge. Solid build. I dropped down flat, leaned my back against the polished brass, and folded my arms.
