A deliberate ascent

I examined the rungs of the dining chair before attempting to climb. Each horizontal bar offered a stable platform, spaced evenly like the rungs of a ladder. I placed my hands on the lowest support, testing its firmness, then pulled myself up with steady, deliberate movements. Reaching the cushion required a careful shift of weight, but the fabric gave enough grip for my footing. From here, the entire living room unfolds at an elevated angle.
