Tangled Hurdle

I was sprinting flat out under the giant sneakers when a long, thick white shoelace dropped right across my path like a tripwire! Did I stop? No way! I threw my whole weight forward into a wild slide to duck beneath it, but my foot caught the woven knot and sent me skidding across the wooden floorboards! The whole lace whipped up, wrapping twice around my knee. I didn't back down for a second—I kicked my heel back, grunted, and yanked with everything I had until the loop popped loose with a sharp snap! Clear path ahead!
