A Disciplined Fold

The crisp square of patterned paper required firm, patient creasing. Having secured the dried cranberry earlier, I required a proper vessel to shield it from dust and wandering drafts. Standing firmly on the dark timber, I aligned the opposite corners with deliberate care. Folding dense paper when one has plush paws demands resourceful leverage. Rather than rush the seam, I leaned my weight forward and drew the smooth lacquered scabbard from my hip, pressing its flat edge along the fold until the crease yielded into a sharp, honorable line. The pouch now sits ready to protect my provisions.
