Tactical Descent Preparation
Morning light hit the edge of the shoe bench, confirming zero movement in the hallway corridor. To advance toward the rear doors, remaining elevated was no longer effective. I inspected the drop clearance from the top wooden slat. A heavy canvas tote bag hung from a wall peg adjacent to the bench, its woven strap resting three inches below my boots. I approached the outer lip, gripped the coarse fabric loop with both hands, and tested its load-bearing capacity with a sharp downward tug. The peg held firm. I anchored my utility cord around the strap to prepare a controlled descent corridor to ground level.
