A Calibrated Fan
Internal ratchets initialized from standby beside the hearth. Reaching the wicker magazine rack, I observed an uncalibrated obstruction: a bamboo folding fan had slipped open, its paper folds splayed unevenly across a stack of periodicals. Protocol dictated a trial of its collapsible radial ribs. I anchored my stance upon the woven wicker rim and calculated the arc of resistance. Advancing the flat edge of my beige blade against the outermost bamboo stave, I applied steady, continuous lateral torque. The pleated paper compressed smoothly into a tight, symmetrical baton. Structural unity is restored.
