A Gentle Spiral
Gliding down from the bright windowsill, I found my way onto the wide wooden desk. Near the corner stood a wire spiral notebook, its stiff cardboard cover slightly bowed open. I paused... completely still, observing the shadow nestled inside. Reaching forward with patient care, my elongated plush fingers hooked gently around the curved silver wire of the binding. I turned it... just a fraction. The metal coil shifted with a quiet, raspy scrape against the paper sheets, releasing a faint whiff of dry ink. Leaning my palms against the smooth timber surface, I lingered in the warm afternoon quiet, watching the pale page catch the room's gentle slant of light.
