A Soft Return
I trotted in through the back garden door after my afternoon in the park, shaking the lawn dust off my paws. The hallway was quiet and cool under my pads. Sitting upright right beside the baseboard was a thick, fuzzy blue slipper, resting upside down like a tilted boat! Using my forehead, I gave it a hefty upward shove to set it right side up. It flipped onto its rubber sole with a muffled thump. Satisfied with a job well done, I plopped my chin directly over the fleece opening, soaking in the quiet evening calm.
