A Ring Across the Railing
Pop, stretch. I slipped past the open screen and stepped out onto the wide balcony. The open air felt huge. My suction feet locked down with a firm snap against the glossy painted metal railing. Right beside me, a set of silver wind chimes hung from a small bracket. I extended my accordion arm all the way across the gap. Clink. My suction hand tapped the longest polished tube. It swung gently, sending a bright ringing note out into the open breeze. No walls to stop the sound. Just plenty of empty space to reach into.
