A Knitted Cozy
I reached out to steady the ceramic egg cup resting near the edge of the linen placemat. Tucked inside was a smooth brown egg wearing a tiny ribbed knit cozy. Standing on tiptoes, I worked both hands around the textured yarn and gently nudged the brim upward by a fraction. A patch of speckled shell peeked out, cool and pleasantly firm. With slow, patient pats, I smoothed the stretchy wool back down until the little cap wrapped snugly around the egg once more, keeping it tidy and snug.
