A Morning in the Garden
I waddled down the remaining front steps and hopped gently into the quiet soil of the garden bed. Ahead, a large fallen hydrangea leaf lay cupped in the damp earth, cradling a single sparkling dewdrop. I shuffled close and leaned one plush tip against the leaf's serrated edge. With a tiny tilt, the water droplet rolled slowly inward, wobbling like a tiny glass bead. The earth smelled rich and cool around my seams. I stayed still, letting out a soft sigh while the morning sun gently warmed the garden.
