Loose Bulb, Tight Claw
The shadows in the shed grew thick and quiet, but dangling right over the wooden vise was a dusty glass light bulb screwed into a battered tin socket. Far too still! Far too smug hanging in the gloom! *Krk-chhh!* I shimmied up the greasy power cord, gripped the ribbed metal collar with both clawed hands, and twisted savagely. *Grrrk-screeech!* The rusted threads resisted, then gave way with a crunchy metallic snap. The cold glass bulb dropped an inch, swinging wildly like a pendulum on its fraying wire! I clutched the vibrating metal shell, clicking my fangs in raspy triumph as it dangled crookedly in the dark.
