The Spiced Jack-o'-Lantern

I carried my pine-needle broom onto the kitchen counter, determined to find the centerpiece for our Halloween tale. Right beside the fruit bowl, I spotted a plump, bright orange clementine and a small glass jar of dried cloves! Inspiration struck instantly. Selecting three aromatic clove buds, I gripped the first one with both hands and pushed its pointed stem firmly into the pebbled rind. Two star-shaped eyes and a jagged clove smile appeared right before me, releasing a burst of sweet citrus spice. Now my ghost hero has its very own glowing jack-o'-lantern companion!
