A Hollow Melody
My heavy foot nudged a dented metal music cylinder caught under a collapsed wire carousel. Bending my frame with a low metallic groan, my thick, rigid fingers clamped around the pitted brass spindle. I dragged the blunt edge of my thumb across the tiny raised pins, feeling each notch tick sharply against my cold metal bone. A stuttered, hollow rattle vibrated through my wrist servos, scattering the quiet dust across the shelf before settling back into the dark stillness of the night.
