A Slight Flex

The air was quiet. I waited, observing the still fabric underneath my shoes. Then, a subtle pulse ran through my joints. I shifted my weight slowly onto my left foot, testing the tension in my ankle hinge. The cushion yielded slightly beneath me, absorbing the pressure with a muffled softness. I reached down and lightly tapped the textured microfiber with one fingertip, feeling the faint, dry resonance travel back through my hand. My joints work. I can stand and move on my own.
