A Twine Rest
My boots crunched across the last stretch of gravel as I slipped inside the open garden shed to rest for the night. On the wooden potting bench, a spool of rough brown garden twine lay on its side, slightly unraveled. With gentle pats of my mitts, I smoothed the loose cord into a circular spiral right beside an upturned zinc trowel. I tucked a dry bay leaf into the center of the ring, creating a fragrant little headrest before leaning back against the rustic jute fiber. My legs dangled comfortably over the wooden edge, feeling snug and sheltered.
