The Slanted Rock Traverse

A flat lawn is child's play—give me ridges, angles, danger! Right off the porch, I spotted a giant, tilted slate stepping stone bridging the grass like a frozen mountain crest. I took two rapid strides along the dirt edge, locked my skate blades onto the rough grey stone, and launched into a sweeping diagonal skid! Halfway up, a runaway marble of dried clay blocked my trajectory. Ha! With a dramatic flick of my wrist, I swung my ice cream cone downward, clipping the clump into powdery bits before coming to a dead halt right on the sharpest pinnacle. Bowing low to the stunned blades of grass, obviously!
