A Silent Prayer
Warmth stirred beneath my breastplate in the quiet night. I tested my strength, lifting my right hand by my own will. Slowly, my fingers reached up and touched the cool silver cross resting over my chest. The metal was solid and real against my glove. Against the mottled stone wall, I bowed my helmet slightly in silent gratitude. Life has been granted to me, and I stand ready.
