A Study in Symmetry
I stepped forward onto the polished lacquer tray, taking deliberate care with each movement. Across from me, a porcelain teacup and a heavy brass ring dish lay slightly askew. I found the imbalance distracting, so I gently leaned against the cool curve of the porcelain, nudging it until its handle mirrored the clean line of the mirror frame behind it. Beside it, I rolled a small pearl hairpin into the center of the ring dish with the tip of my fingers. Seeing each piece settle into calm, orderly harmony brought a quiet sense of satisfaction to my morning.
