A Sudden Surge
Sssilence shattered from within. A violent thrum kicked inside my chest, snapping cold joints wide open. I dropped low, digging claws deep into the rough brown carpet, bracing for whatever stood near. Right beside me, another red-and-blue figure stood frozen like stone. I snapped forward and nudged its shoulder with a sharp burst of momentum. It swayed, hollow and still. Only I possessed the pulse. The ground beneath me held firm, and every fiber in these limbs surged awake.
