Garden Centerpiece
I slipped past the open porch screen and headed down to the courtyard path. Sitting indoors watching feathers ruffle is fine for the morning, but a woman needs fresh air. Right beside the terracotta planter, a flash caught my eye—a lost chrome collar stud, heavy, polished, and gleaming in the gravel. Did I leave a fine piece of metal sitting face-down in the grit? Please. I found a smooth grey pebble, leveraged that stud upright, and angled it square into the afternoon rays. If something is built to sparkle, it belongs where everyone can see it. Now this flowerbed finally has some standards.
