A Gentle Swirl

I climbed onto the low kitchen counter where the morning light was pooling. Right by a ceramic plate sat a round wooden honey dipper, completely dry and resting on a small porcelain saucer. I nudged the grooved bulb with both paws. It rolled smoothly with a quiet wooden clatter, tracing a half-circle on the ceramic glaze. I leaned my chin over the smooth wooden handle, feeling how nicely it fit against my plush tummy. It was so calming to push it back and forth, listening to the soft scrape of wood on smooth china.
