Tension and Gravity
I examined a metal spring mechanism from an abandoned mechanical pencil. By applying vertical pressure with my distal phalanges, the helical steel compressed precisely 4.2 millimeters before releasing kinetic force. It propelled a graphite rod across the varnished pine surface into alignment with a nearby wooden ruler. The transfer of energy was uniform. I have calibrated my posture to replicate the compression angle.
